Default Events for guild activities ?

I run a small P vs E community guild and was wondering what types of tournies and events other guilds have held for their members. YES ..... I want to pick the community's brian. Myself I've done some of the following things for events

1.) Screen Shots - post a range of screen shots and see who can guess where they were taken.

2.) Have held a jousting tourney of sorts were folks did some P vs P and earned pts for 1 vs 1 fighting & 4 vs 4 fighting with heros, using the G vs G scrimmage matches. Always more fun with friends then with idioits who forget this is a game for fun

3.) Have held trivia contests using riddles and make people guess the correct answer.

ROAR will be hosting another huge gathering ( what we call our tournies ) next month and I just wanted to see if any of you creative folks out there would like to share some ideas.

Games for in-game characters ? paper, scissors, rock ?

Any way to use mini pets for fun ?

I would also like to have some ideas as i will soon be (self) appointed head of guild activities and need some ideas
So far for ingame ideas i have Dodgeball ..... thats it

We also have a Guess Where thread on forums and some quizzes have been done in the past (thanks Dev )

Is there a touch skill that causes a condition? "Tag" was an idea i'd had for a Scrimmage game but not sure how to really do it with only K/D that can be denied with some k/d recovery runes or steady stance (of course "Can't touch this" will also be a problem)

Thanks for any ideas me and the OP would appericate them

(also @ OP how you do jousting? sounds fun)

I'll play hide and go seek. I tell my guildies the continent I'm on and the first on to find me wins like 25k or something. Set a time limit though :P

I thought of this but isn't it easy as all you have to do is go to a town hold Ctrl and spin? Or does having districts make it harder?

Sorry if i'm bugging with questions just want to keep activity up in our guild. So many that not been on for weeks/months

I've done quizzes and dodgeball with prizes for my guild, and also toyed with the idea of doing a scavenger hunt but that fell flat due to lack of people (people standing in towns in a set continent giving out cheap customised items, first one back with the entire set wins). The other version I thought about was riddles to emotes in towns, where the first to email screenshots of their character doing the emotes in the specified town wins stuff.

Things to think about - keep it fairly simple and make sure its worthwhile but infrequent (you don't want people to become reliant on your hand outs and leech). I'll be keeping an eye on this thread for ideas to use

As far as my jousting tourney went this is what I did. Using the G vs G scrimmage match I had two seperate events. One event was a 1 vs 1 battle and the other 4 vs 4 ( basically you and 3 heroes ) and then I let the guild members fight against each other. For each player they beat they get X amount of points and allow them to only play every guild member once. You set an amount of points for each type of battle and at the end the player with the most points would win. I also used one of the challenge misisons as an event in the joust as well where members had to post screen shots with their scores using just their own heroes and henchmen, no PUG groups and took the scores from that as well. Basically it was a multi P vs P event with a little bit for everyone.

What is nice about this is there is no set time where everyone has to be on-line at the same time. That in and of itself can be the failure of many guild activities. Work schedules, school, time zones, ect. can make that a royal pain to get everyone in one spot at the same time. I've found the best and most successful activities are ones members can do on their time.

Yeah, Hide and Seek is easy but thats kinda the point.

IMO, being a good leader is about showing your members that you care about them and the guild. Sometimes you get down time when people are just hanging out but most of the time everyone is off doing their thing be it farming or title chasing or whatever. A five minute game is a great way to stay in touch with everyone but not really take them away from the game.

You can also have mini pet races Have a few guildies enter an area be it pvp at the hall or explorable, line up, pop out their pets and run to the finish line. No speed buffs allowed.

Maybe try doing something besides UW trips then? I earn my money through vanquishing, mapping and general character progression. Its not a "get rich quick" thing, but it does allow me to steadily increase funds to the point I can afford to buy nice armor and splash out 30k or so every couple of months for my guild (thats a 1k prize per question in a quiz, takes about an hour to do with the inevitable and wanted banter). Depends how much you play of course, but even a token 200g can go some way to make it worth peoples time.

The Cold One: I had a go at playing hide and seek with a few of my guild members Tuesday night. Was great fun . Made people name the continent and stick to district 1 only so people stood half a chance of finding each other. Yet another game to help bridge those quiet moments. I'll be giving minipet racing a go at some point as well

I do agree with you though about showing members you care all the time, but I find that doing something random can be a nice way of creating a community spirit. If you let people know in advance when you're going to be doing a fun event then they'll usually make time for it as long as life doesn't get in the way.

Also this shouldn't all be on you. You recruit and promote officers for a reason. All you really need is to have one or two dedicated officers and your job becomes much easier. I have been lucky in that I have a few officers who are hardcore GW'ers and truly love the guild. They do alot to make everything I want to do happen.

We've got our forums with a calender, and all officers can click on the date, set up a thread and have their own event listed (this is how we get guild involvment)

The kind of stuff we do is like "Fight the Factions Blues Week" that week officers made a big deal about helping people get through Factions missions (my guild is kind of anti factions, no body likes the maps), we also promote the Anet weekend event (even if it does kill the market values), and we encourage people to take screen shots of guild/alliance teams on outings.

We then usually have a thread discussing how the event worked out for us.

I always enjoy "BBQ Glint" events.

As The Cold One said you have to have officer support in doing these (and coming up with them) or you'll get burnt out.

Also make sure to plan events that you don't have to be online for, that the members and officers can do themselves.
Most guildies just need an idea or direction to move in after that they take off on their own.

I'm going to barrow this, slightly modified for my group. Thanks for the grand idea.

One thing which is great fun, its basic 1v1 guild scrimmages but with special twists to the rules.

Ideas for changing the rules can be:
-Selecting A Random Number and that member has to play with that character corresponding on their login screen, be it level 20 or level 2.
-Before you go in tell them that skills 2, 4, 6, and 8 are banned and they must remove them from the build
-Changing their weapons to starters
-Fighting without armor

If anyone has any other ideas please let me know,
Thanks,
Oscar (Xmark Zdrec)
